Archiprint 11 - Patina

volume 6 issue 2

Uitgever:AnArchi

  • Paperback
  • Engels
  • 62 pagina's
  • 10 nov. 2017

This 11th edition of Archiprint is about Patina. Newly built buildings with an expression that goes beyond the historic, that come across as already having accumulated a history, including several transformations - This is how Kirsten Hannema introduced “instant patina”, a trend in contemporary architecture production in the Netherlands. Consider the OV-terminal in Bedra by Koen van Velsen, where he explicitly uses instant patina as a design method. The facade looks aged with traces of former window openings. However it is newly built and finished in 2016. Associated with (instant) patina are themes such as: resilience against time and the human scale. Is instant patina a new strategy to, for example, create identity in architecture?

Archiprint is AnArchi’s architectural journal, edited by our Archiprint committee. The journal contains articles from both theorists and practitioners in the field of architecture. Each issue addresses a specific theme and aims to provide actualities and food for thought.

With text from Kirsten Hannema, Ruurd Roorda & Bas Kegge, Samantha Black & Daan Jenniskens, lennart Arpots, Marius Grootveld, Joshua Comaroff, Rik de Bondt & Jasper Brus, Jacob Voorhuis.
