The modern capitalist era, with its emphasis on growth and progress and an economic system based on consumption, wastage, and resources being bled dry, has led to the ruthless exploitation of people and nature. As a counter to this, “The Great Repair” project puts forward the idea of a repair society centred on practices of care, maintenance, and mending.

The publication 'The Great Repair. The Politics of the Repair Society. A Reader' presents a theoretical introduction to the project, which arose as a collaboration between ARCH+, the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, and the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Luxembourg.

It will be followed in autumn 2023 by an exhibition and event programme at the Akademie der Künste, which will be accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.
