This special issue of a+u magazine is devoted to new architecture in Latvia, with a focus on 25 works completed since 2000.

It also introduces the historical architecture that provides context for these contemporary works, many of which respectfully coexist with the historical architecture and city. A diverse and multi-layered physical and cultural setting has emerged since Latvia gained independence, and the nation’s architects have risen to the challenge.
